Back from vacation....sigh.

Chris and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary this Saturday 6/21! We decided to take a little trip, without Wyatt. We spent 2 nights in Shepherdstown, WV at a fantastic B&B-The Thomas Shepherd Inn. www.thomasshepherdinn.com

On the way up we took the scenic route and stopped at Doukenie Winery in Loudon County. www.doukeniewinery.com Of course this was during the heat wave and it was a billion degrees outside. Even the ducks were hot.





We went tubing, to two great restaurants and generally had a relaxing time, although I missed Wyatt ALOT. Harper's Ferry was beautiful and being the nerd I am about history, I was completely enraptured with the Civil War and John Brown insurrection history. I bought "The Secret Six" about the men behind John Brown after we visited the tavern of the same name.



We also ate at The Bavarian Inn, which overlooks the Potomac and has a full German menu, something that makes Chris positively gleeful. Mmmm....Jagerschnitzel...

It was really beautiful country...I'm glad we went. I wanted to try a new place, but not too far away from the munchkin of course. This last shot is at the point in Harper's Ferry where the Potomac and Shenandoah converge. This was taken right before a huge storm that finally cooled everything off for a while...



So, back to real life. We went to DC on Saturday to help host a baby shower for a close friend and to celebrate a graduation and one year birthday. Eventful day. Glad to be back at home, even glad to be back a work, but there is always a little let down when vacation is over....well at least we get to go to the beach in August! Hooray!
